I love Johnny Cash's version of this song so much. This picture is too dark for the song. Actually I don't think it fits at all. Except for the color. Otherwise, it's an old man and a crow.... because I like drawing old people and birds.
I'm sure the music video for this song influenced me. I tried to get it out of my head, but I couldn't, it fits the song so perfectly. I'm also trying to get away from just.... pretty faces. So here's a not so pretty... face?
Lately I've been revisiting some music from the 90s.... Which is interesting since I have an emotional response to the music whether I like it or not, since it's nostalgic for me. I remember listening to this song on my little walkman radio thing when I was like 12. Not that this picture really reflects any of that. It's late and it was hastily drawn.
Gentle leaves, gentle leaves, please array a path for me...
It's late. It was hard to pick a song. I love The Decemberists. I'm half a sleep. I can't draw and listen to The Decemberists without their lyrics influencing a story behind my art. Her face looks a little like a face in a nightmare I had. I need sleep now.
It's interesting. When I'm doing sketches and really thinking about the song... I find myself thinking what "color" a song is. I never really thought about it so much before, but songs definitely have colors.
